The Canoe Lake Road is opened. The construction project is done.

Mitchell Creek Bridge is in desperate need of repairs. The existing bridge finally be replaced with a new structure with more clearance height than the existing. This is a requirement of transport Canada. Replacement of the bridge will require closing Canoe Lake Road at the bridge.

It will be closed from 10-September-2007 to 30-September-2007. As with all construction project, dates are subject to change.
The new structure will be composed of precast concrete which should minimize stream bed disruption and allow for an earlier completion than would otherwise occur with other construction techniques. Completion is estimated to be at the of September, so the road may be closed for less than a month.
The Township marked a lengthy detour around the closed bridge. Click here for the latest map of the detour.
Only visitors wishing to access Frontenac Park from Kingsford Dam will be inconvenienced when the bridge is closed. Notably those visitors camping at cluster 11 or 8 and those hiking Tetsmine Lake Loop or Gibson Lake Loop. Please note: All visitors are required to a have a permit. The Trail Centre is the only official permit office for Frontenac Park.
It is unknown at this time if the construction work will prevent or limit access to Mitchell Creek around the bridge. Please check with the Park.
